Does your Site Need a Storm Water Permit?

All construction sites and most industrial facilities need storm water permit coverage!

The National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System a/k/a the "storm water permit" is a national program that address environmental concerns for construction sites and industrial sites.

  • Does your construction project disturb any soil  through clearing, grading, excavating, or stockpiling of fill material?

  • Is there any possibility that storm water could run off of your site?

  • Is your construction project a smaller site that is part of a common plan or sale? (Recent changes in the regulations include smaller sites.)

  • Is your facility an industrial site that discharges storm water from any conveyance that is used for the collecting and conveying of storm water directly related to manufacturing, processing or raw materials storage areas at an industrial plant?

  • If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, YOU NEED PERMIT COVERAGE! If you don’t have permit coverage, you could be fined up to $32,500 per day for construction permits and upto $2,000,000 per day for industrial permits!

Point source pollution abatement programs developed by the Environmental Protection Agency have identified manufacturing, construction, and other land improvements as a leading source of environmental pollutants.

Pollutants such as petroleum products, sewage, and sediment directly enter the nation’s waterways through storm water drainage systems, contaminating the water and choking streams with sediment.
